It has been said that by 2050 our oceans will contain more plastic than fish. We are all aware of the terrible environmental impact this is having and Bill Opticians are proud to be able to bring you a range of glasses that is trying to have a positive impact by removing some of this waste and transforming it in to high quality eyewear.
10% of all plastic waste in the sea is lost and discarded fishing nets. They are made from one of the least biodegradable materials known to man and are having a devastating effect on ocean life. These discarded nets along with other plastic waste are removed from the sea and recycled in to small plastic pellets. These are then sent to a renowned Italian eye wear manufacturer where they are moulded in to glasses. Each pair of spectacles weighs only 23gms, has flex hinges and the beautiful style finish that the Italians are famous for.
